AFFA 27th Annual General Meeting
Hariantemanggung.com - The world again eyeing Bali now, not only about the ongoing volcanic eruptions, but also an important event keep going like recent ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) 27th Annual General Meeting in conjunction  with National Leaders Assembly Meeting of Indonesia Logistics and Forwarders Association(ILFA/ALFI) on 24-25 November 2017 at  Trans Resort Bali.

Attended by hundreds of Southeast Asian countries logistic Associations members and delegates, the event has shown AFFA confident and  intention to play key roles in ASEAN logistics connectivity. ASEAN has transformed itself to be an open and integrated economy (intra trade is 24% of total ASEAN trade. ASEAN has reached zero tariff on 96% of post tariffs), and within this circumstance cross border logistics and simplification of regulatory in each ASEAN country will be a critical part to support the integration.

E-commerce has disrupt the economy, as well as the logistics fulfilment industry where AFFA’s member is one of the actor the industry, hence it must gear up for its readiness of innovation and connectivity.  AFFA association members has adopt and agreed to jointly build and develop the platform of e-connectivity among associations in ASEAN.

Mr. Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi, Chairman of AFFA, was indicating the importance of collaboration among ASEAN players in order to realize positioning AFFA as an important party in making the logistics connectivity in the region. Apart from that, he added the importance also to keep up the industry human capital development, and therefore AFFA has committed to develop its regional standard training and education program as a benchmark of standard ASEAN logistics industry.

The event was inaugurated by Indonesian Minister of Transport, Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi, , whose cited his speech over video conference that AFFA is an important actors in making the connectivity successful.

“AFFA shall promote and build a strong cooperation among the member, and continue supports government in making any program towards ASEAN connectivity 2025 go live.

During the event AFFA conduct a panel discussion “Logistics Connectivity for ASEAN and beyond” moderating by Mr. Stanley Lim, Chairman of Singapore Logistics Association(SLA), inviting round the panel from industry expert such as: Mr. Hadi Kuncoro, Sr Advisor for Road Map Ecommerce Committee, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Republic of Indonesia; Mr. Alvin Chua, President of FMFF-Malaysia and Mr. Simon Lai, Business Development Director of  GeTS-Singapore.
